About Manock

Prezdential Basketball is a social enterprise that is dedicated to bridging the gap faced by disadvantaged youth in Ottawa, and particularly racialized youth living in low income communities such as Overbrook. After watching too many of my friends make self-destructive choices and fall into unsafe spaces, I am focused on building safe spaces that allow youth to flourish.

Against the backdrop of poverty, limited resources, and struggling community, Manock put all of his energy and time into basketball, and  because of this investment he was able to earn a full scholarship to the University of Prince Edward  Island where he holds records to this day. Manock then went on to play professionally in England.  After breaking records in the United Kingdom, he was drafted by Ottawa’s first professional  organization – the Skyhawks. Before retiring, he represented the South Sudanese national team  internationally. Now, Manock uses his knowledge of the game and passion for community to cultivate  the next generation of Canadian athletes

The big difference in this program is that the students will start learning the why? Previous programs we focused on what to do and how to do it. In this program we dive into why we do those moves and work on what we call Fighting IQ.

The class incorporate yoga techniques to the warm up to add a supple element to the mobility of the participants. In this program we introduce new techniques, and oversee controlled games to imitate what sparring will look like, and option to participate in sparring after passing the evaluation of the coach. Parents’ approval is required. Each student will have a chance to work one on one with their coach and together as teams

Our Volleyball program will be held on the beach volleyball courts, and will move into the multi-sport dome once it gets too cold outside to play. RSC’s trained volleyball coaches will work with participants to teach them the fundamentals of volleyball.
