Covid-19 Protocols

RSC’s COVID-19 Procedures

RSC and The Bridge Public House follow all guidance and direction from Ottawa Public Health and abide by all requirements from both municipal and provincial mandates.

November 1st UPDATE

With the easing of restrictions, RSC will be altering how some of our day to day operations.

  • Contact tracing will be pulled from your registration or service you are using at RSC as opposed to completing the previously mandatory online questionnaire. The Bridge Public House will be the only exception to this as attending the restaurant is not always booked in advance.
  • RSC will be moving to a “passive screening” model. This means that everyone entering our property must self-identify any symptoms of COVID-19. OPH posters are posted at our Vaccine check-in booth to assist with this.
  • All Indoor services require proof of vaccination (including The Bridge Public House). You must check in at our Vaccination Booth at the entrance of the property before continuing to your activity. Upon showing valid ID and proof of double vaccination, our staff will add you to our database (we will not be sharing or keeping any medical information on file) and you will only be required to provide your name for future visits.
  • Capacity limits have been lifted for several of our indoor services, including both domes, weight/cardio room and indoor studios. While we will continue to limit all classes to 10 people for your comfort, mandatory gym bookings have been removed. Simply check in with at reception to confirm a valid pass and enjoy your workout!

RSC understands the pandemic continues to be a dynamic situation and is prepared to change it’s operations in accordance with all Public Health requirements.

We hope this positive trend continues!

October 23rd UPDATE

Every person entering the RSC property commencing October 23rd will need to fill out the online screening form (this will include parents of athletes). Everyone 12+ years of age going to RSC’s inside spaces (clubhouse, restaurant, domes, etc) will need to show proof of vaccination and ID. This decision was not taken lightly, and is driven by the fact that RSC is a multigenerational centre and the spaces are often shared simultaneously. We have a commitment to all of our clients and staff to provide a safe and fun environment. All RSC & The Bridge staff 100% fully vaccinated.

We recognize that our announcement of this RSC Policy did not allow for all junior athletes to have enough time to get fully vaccinated, and we want to ensure that our junior athletes continue training while also following RSC policy. For those 12-18 year olds who are not fully vaccinated, we will respect a grace period to allow for these appointments to be made. Proof of first dose will need shown by Monday, October 4th, and complete vaccination (2 doses plus 14 days) by Monday, November 15th.

For further information about vaccines or vaccination sites, please visit Ottawa Public Health’s website (click here) .

Thank you for your continued support.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is contact tracing and how are you doing it?

Contact tracing assists Public Health organizations to coordinate and inform individuals of at-risk exposures in the event of a positive COVID-19 case. Therefore, upon arrival to RSC, every person must complete the contact tracing form before entering the property. This is required by law based on the provincial regulations around COVID-19 screening. After completing this form, the information will be automatically uploaded to our secure database and kept for 30 days. Your information will not be shared or used for promotions or other communication beyond the use of Ottawa Public Health requirements. Click here for the contact tracing form.

What is RSC’s mask protocol?

  • Outdoors: Masks are recommended, but not mandatory so long as appropriate social distancing is maintained. It is important to note that masks will be mandatory within the outdoor tunnel system for the Winter months.
  • Indoors: Masks are to be worn at all times when indoors with the only exceptions being while seated at a table in The Bridge Public House, at your designated Yoga/Fitness “mat”, working out in our Weight/Cardio room or directly participating in a sport in one of our domes.

What is your vaccination policy?

Starting October 23rd , all clients participating in all indoor activities or indoor dining/meetings will need to provide proof of their double vaccination, or letter of exemption each time you arrive. We recommend you print out your 2nd dose confirmation document to help speed up the check-in process.

Based on the current Provincial guidelines, we are not mandating proof of vaccine/exemption for outdoor activities or dining.

What happens if I am not vaccinated and am registered in a program?

Due to this new protocol for proof of vaccination (or exemption), we understand that some people who have signed up for current, or future program sessions will no longer be able to participate. We will be making refunds available in these instances. Please email our Program Manager, Tim Kwan at tim@rideausportscentre.com to request your refund.

Preventative Measures

In order to proactively prevent the spread of COVID-19 at Rideau Sports Centre and The Bridge Public House, the following steps are being taken:

  • Physical distancing of 2 metres is required at all times all users not living in the same household or in their social circle.
  • Directional signage to manage traffic flow.
  • Distancing measures in place for dome entrances.
  • Mandatory mask use in all indoor spaces (Only exception is when you are actually playing a sport in one of our domes.  Masks are required to/from courts).
  • Room capacities have been reduced to accommodate social distancing requirements.
  • Additional hand sanitizing stations are available and frequent hand-washing is encouraged.
  • Upon arrival both staff and clients are required to complete a self-assessment for COVID-19 symptoms before being authorized access to the site.
  • Entry to the building is denied to anyone who presents as a risk based on the self-assessment questionnaire.
  • Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols have been implemented.
