MEET RSC’S TENNIS PROS
Sacha Krishna (Head Pro)
Sacha has been coaching Tennis players in both private and group settings for over 17 years in Ottawa. A club Pro 2 Certified Coach from Tennis Canada, Sacha always ensures a positive learning environment for his students, bringing an obvious passion for the game along with his contagious energy to each session he teaches. With students ranging from 5 to 95, Sacha’s adaptable style fits the needs of any student. Sacha is also a regular competitor in tournaments across Ottawa. He took home the 2015 Elmdale Doubles Championship and was a Semi-Finalist in the 2014 Rideau Indoor Open.
Renga Moi Hutchinson (Tennis Pro)
Renga is a certified Tennis Professional who hails from the Caribbean island of Barbados. He’s recently moved from Barbados to Ottawa and has brought with him over 15 years teaching experience, including training Haydn Lewis, who had a career high ATP ranking of #583. Renga is most passionate about working with kids and beginner to intermediate level adults.
Jeremy Gibbens-Schneider (Tennis Pro)
Jeremy began playing tennis at the age of 10. By the age of 12 he was invited by Tennis Canada to train at the National Training Centre in Toronto. Having competed in several National and International competitions including Rogers Junior National Championships U-14, U-16, U-18, and ITF Gatineau Futures presented by National Bank Financial, Jeremy has extensive experience competing at a high level.
After returning from NCAA in January 2015, Jeremy continued his passion for tennis and began his career coaching. Using the first hand knowledge he acquired through high performance from his time spent as a player training with world renowned coaches such as Rick Macci, Bob Brett, and Heath Waters, he helped produce several players that competed at a National level.
Jeremy’s hobbies include continuing his education in business management, running his start up company Global Tennis with his brother, and spending time with his family.
Derian Valcourt (Tennis Pro)
Derian has been coaching tennis for 8 years at various tennis facilities as well as programs at the Rideau Sports Centre. Through the years Derian has coached at various levels of tennis including camps, progressive tennis, recreational and competitive tennis programs. Derian is a recent graduate from the University of Ottawa where he played with the University club team for 4 years serving as a captain in his last year. Derian has competed at various provincial level tournaments as a junior and CIS indoor nationals with the University of Ottawa. With his experience, he has developed various teaching strategies that can suit beginners to competitive players in order fine-tune their game or develop the basics to play the game we love. Derian is excited to be a new full time coach at RSC and hopes to help every player reach his/her tennis goals.
Private Progressive Tennis Lessons For Kids!
An option for parents who are keen to give their children extra court time with the undivided attention of an experienced Tennis Pro. The benefits of private lessons can truly be reaped when used in addition to group lessons, this combination can lead to serious advancements in the social and technical aspects of Tennis.
With smaller racquets, mini Red nets and larger (Red) balls, Renga’s Roots Classes are tailored to children ages 3-8 years old. The focus is on implementing agility, balance and coordination-based drills in such a way that it enhances the student’s technical ability. Aiming, in both fun and specialized ways, to develop rally skills and harness the desire to take their abilities to the next level. (Orange)
