Connecting the community through Sport, Wellness and Leisure in the heart of the city. Rideau Sports Centre is a recreation centre open to the public; an inclusive space for people of all ages, sports, abilities, and demographics which is located on the banks of the Rideau River.

Summary:

Responsible for the supervision and instruction of drop-in sports at Rideau Sports Centre. The candidate is responsible for the general safety and overall enjoyment of participants in the program. The games coordinator will also be responsible for managing potential safety risks and ensuring all equipment and supplies are set and ready for the program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Reports directly to the Program Manager

· Organizes teams and games based on skill level

· Assists with any questions or concerns clients may have

· Supervises and implements a safe and dynamic program for participants of varying age

· Participates in games when needed.

· Exercise good judgment in conflict resolution

· Encourage a positive, welcoming, and energetic environment for all participants.

· Other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

· Completion of Grade 12

· Experience in a sports-related environment is considered an asset

 

 

 

Skills Required:

· Capable of conflict resolution, especially in a sports environment

· Knowledge of customer service-related practices, strategies, and resolution

· Knowledge of a variety of sports rules, games, mini-games, and sports equipment.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially during busy periods, stressful situations, or emergencies.

· Ability to join various sports

· Organize, multi-task and prioritize work.

· Exercise sound judgment and discretion in decision making to selecting/suggesting a course of action within a list of possible alternatives.

Summary:

We are looking for a reliable, skilled maintenance worker to perform essential upkeep tasks throughout our facility. In this position, you will be responsible for a wide variety of activities such as repairs and cleaning to ensure that our facilities are both tidy and functional. Being reliable and self-motivated with a keen eye for detail is essential in this job, as the ideal candidate will have significant work experience and solid technical knowledge. You should have the manual dexterity and physical stamina necessary for this work.

Responsibilities:

· Perform minor fixes, such as repairing broken locks, damage to walls, broken furniture, etc.

· Install necessary appliances and equipment as needed

· Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues

· Maintain grounds, including garden and yard upkeep, trimming, edging,the mowing lawn, collecting trash, etc.

· Perform necessary cleaning activities, such as dusting, mopping, trash removal, etc.

· Complete regular maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs

· Inspect and troubleshoot various equipment and systems

· Test the functionality of the facility’s safety systems

· Collaborate with a team of workers and other professionals during renovations and facility expansions

· Report to facilities manager regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress

Requirements and Qualifications:

· Available to work during the days, evenings and weekends.

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Proven experience as a maintenance worker or other similar position, preferably in a corporate setting

· Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems

· Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools

· Successful completion of on-site apprenticeship training required

· Ability to read and utilize technical manuals and drawings

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· General passion for creative problem-solving

Summary:

Reporting to the Restaurant General Manager, the Event Coordinator will be responsible for every aspect of an event, from organizing to evaluating success afterward. While working with all The Bridge Public House, the Event Coordinator manages the effective planning, delivery, and evaluation of events.

Job Duties:

· Identify the client’s requirements and expectations for each event.

· Liaise with vendors, exhibitors, and stakeholders during the event planning process to ensure everything is in order.

· Coordinate staffing for events with the Restaurant General Manager.

· Communicate any, and all menus to the Chef/kitchen ensuring adequate time for ordering and preparation.

· Manage all event set-up, tear down, and follow-up processes.

· Maintain event budgets.

· Adhere and manage the annual financial target

· Responsible for working with the Restaurant General Manager on external pricing for event packages and maintaining profitable margins

· Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, health, and safety obligations

· Conduct final inspections on the day of the event to ensure everything adheres to the client’s standards.

· Responding to external rental inquiries in 24-48 hours and conducting client tours of event spaces, preparation of quotes and/or budgets based on event objectives and desired execution-style.

· Working and collaborating with the Marketing Manager regarding any marketing initiatives required for event coordination.

· Creating and executing sales and marketing programs, bundled event packages designed to attract organizations to host their events with our organization.

· Maintaining and streamlining event processes and templates.

· Conducting post-event debrief sessions and ensuring lessons learned and best practices are incorporated into future events.

· Undertake market research to identify new opportunities, improve current product and service offerings, and inform future directions

· Ensure collaboration, effective communication, and successful execution of all aspects of event management and planning

· Managing cost and invoicing aspects of events including creating purchase orders, ensuring invoices are received, and conducting final event cost analysis after events are completed

· Assess an event’s overall success and submit findings and reports to the Restaurant General Manager

Job Requirements:

· Proven experience as an event coordinator

· A proven track record of organizing successful events

· Proficient in MS Office

· At least 3 years’ experience as an event coordinator.

· Well-organized with excellent multi-tasking abilities.

· Outstanding vendor management skills.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Problem-solving ability

· Degree in hospitality management, public relations, or relevant field is preferred

· Experience developing and interpreting statistical reports and surveys.

· Able to work a flexible schedule based on business demands.

· Maintain accurate records and have high attention to detail.

We’re looking for part time and full time Customer Service Representatives that will be responsible for providing customer services in a recreation and wellness facility, acting as the first point of contact, including: processing registrations, bookings and point of sales operations; liaise with customers and clients of other departments to ensure quality customer service and quality customer experience; providing related administrative support to facility programs, as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interacting with clients and staff, in-person, by telephone and email in a pleasant, positive, informative, and professional manner.
  • Complete program registrations, facility bookings and point of sales operations.
  • Maintain client information, sports program, and facility databases.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality with regards to client information.
  • Resolve any client issues and/or escalate to management where appropriate.
  • Greet, COVID screen, and direct clients upon arrival.
  • Assist in administrative duties across all departments.
  • Remain up to date with programs and services offered at the sports centre in order to relay that information to clients.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Customer service experience is considered an asset
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset

Our restaurant & event space is situated on beautiful 4-acres in the heart of Ottawa on the Rideau River, on the same property as the Rideau Sports Centre. We boast one of the largest patios in the city, which is covered and heated to maximize the outdoor season and provides an oasis in the summer. 

Our operation consists of one main dining room (165 seating capacity), an event room (55), and plentiful outdoor seating – including a covered upper deck overlooking the Rideau River (157), and a lower veranda (92), firepits (50).  We serve lunch & dinner 7 days a week, brunch on weekends, use of delivery platforms, takeout, catering & private events 

Title:  Server 

Reports To:  Restaurant General Manager 

Summary: 

The Server will be responsible for providing high levels of customer service to all restaurant patrons by providing prompt service, taking accurate orders, and maintaining a strong working knowledge of all menu items and daily specials. The Food and Beverage Server will always perform customer service duties in a friendly and professional manner and ensure that the customers have an enjoyable dining experience. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the proper setting of tables, removing used dishes and place settings, assisting with cleaning duties, and complying with all restaurant policies and procedures. 

Job Duties: 

  • Take food and beverage orders from customers and ensure these are given to the appropriate person to execute (i.e. kitchen staff, bartender, etc.). 
  • Maintain familiarity with the composition of all menu items, including items available at the bar. 
  • Serve food and beverages in accordance with company standards, but above all in a professional, courteous manner. 
  • Clean designated areas, in accordance with company procedures, including opening and closing routines and following hygiene requirements. 
  • Ensure table decorations are clean and comply with company standards. 
  • Set tables to company policy, ensuring that all items used are clean, undamaged and in a good state of repair. 
  • Ensure storerooms are adequately stocked with replacement cutlery, linen or other established needs, be they food or equipment. 
  • Clean tables and ensure they are cleaned as soon as it is apparent that customers have finished their food or drink with an acceptable balance between speed, yet allowing customers to finish their meal without feeling rushed. 
  • Ensure that customers are correctly charged, present the bill and take payment from the customer, in accordance with the procedures of the establishment. 
  • At all times to be aware of and practise good customer service, assisting the guest in any way which does not adversely affect other customers. 
  • Attend to customer complaints satisfactorily. 
  • Take part in any fire or evacuation drills and ensure complete familiarization with all exits, including those normally used by customers, as well as fire escapes. 
  • Carry out on-the-job training to ensure subordinate staff can carry out their duties effectively. 
  • Be continually aware of and maintain the highest standards of personal hygiene and dress. 
  • Ensure that any subordinate staff adhere to and maintain the highest possible standards of personal hygiene and dress. 
  • Attend meetings and training courses as required. 
  • Any other duties as assigned. 

Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • Strong customer service experience. 
  • (1) year of restaurant service experience. 
  • Smart Serve Certification
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.

Title: Line Cook

Reports To: Head Chef

Summary:

The Bridge Public House requires an energetic, motivated, and career-minded new Line Cook for the preparation of high-quality food in a timely, efficient, sanitary, and consistent manner. The new Line Cook must be prepared to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure work environment while maintaining the organizational ability to identify and act on job duties quickly and effectively. The new Line Cook must be prepared to work as a team member in a dynamic workplace, follow all safety procedures, and have a high threshold for heat in a kitchen environment.

Job Duties:

  • A line cook is responsible for the daily preparation of food items in the pantry, fry and/or stations or other areas of the kitchen.
  • Sets up station according to restaurant guidelines.
  • Prepares all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
  • Follows recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant.
  • Restocks all items as needed throughout shift.
  • Cleans and maintains station in practicing good safety, sanitation, and organizational skills.
  • Has understanding and knowledge to properly use and maintain all equipment in station.
  • Assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
  • Ensure quality and safety of food by performing standard and any additional sanitary measures including sweeping of the floors, cleaning of surfaces, as well as proper covering and storage of food items according to standards and procedures.
  • Work at an efficient and consistent pace.
  • Ensure timely preparation of all meals.
  • Ensure that the correct quantities are prepared to meet daily needs.
  • Utilize kitchen equipment during food preparation.
  • Stay productive at all times and prepare for future needs as time allows.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and volunteer to fill open shifts as required by variations in staffing.
  • Follow proper reporting procedures for accidents and incidents to ensure follow-up and prevention.
  • Adhere to all regulations including blood borne pathogens, infection control, use of hazardous materials and fire safety.
  • Serve food in the proper portion size and at the proper temperature.
  • Report any infraction in the food services department policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Professional diploma or food services management preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of cooking experience required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food and catering trends, quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation required.
  • Knowledge of methods and procedures for serving food, principles of sanitation, and principles of safe food handling required.
  • Must be free of diseases that may be transmitted in the performance of job responsibilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lb.

Title:

Dish Washer

Reports To:

Executive Chef

Summary:

The Bridge Public House requires an energetic, motivated new Dish Washer to provide fast and effective cleaning of all kitchen utensils, dishware, glassware, and pots, and to maintain the kitchen area ensuring cleanliness and tidiness. The new Dish Washer may be required to do some food prep and heavy lifting. The Dish Washer must be capable of working effectively both unsupervised and within a team environment and will be responsible for providing guests and employees with clean and sanitized utensils, dishes, glassware, pots, and pans and equipment, and will comply with all restaurant policies and procedures.

Job Duties:

  • Ensure that all dishes, pots, pans and cutlery, etc. are clean and sanitized.
  • Use proper chemicals to sanitize items.
  • Wash all pots, pans, inserts, etc. and clean kitchen equipment when called upon and as per cleaning schedule.
  • Put dishes back in proper places throughout the kitchen and server areas.
  • Keep the kitchen area floors swept, cleaned and washed at all times.
  • Assist with prep work under the direction and supervision of a qualified cook.
  • Clean and organize all related work equipment and areas.
  • Assist in other duties as directed by shift supervisor or manager.
  • Keep sanitation solutions up to company codes at all times.
  • Maintain daily cleanliness and maintenance of dish machine.
  • Clean and sanitize throughout the shift.
  • Complete assigned prep work and beautification duties.
  • Keep immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggest alternative courses of action which may be taken.
  • Perform shift change and/or closing duties.
  • Attend shift meetings and monthly meetings on time.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of the position.
  • Maintain a favourable working relationship with all other company employees and guests to foster and promote a working environment that maximizes morale, productivity and efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 education preferred
  • Previous experience in a customer service environment preferred
  • Food Safe certification preferred
  • WHIMIS certificate an asset
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
