Summary:
Rideau Sports Centre is hiring Lifeguards & Swim Instructors.
RSC has a large group swimming program in the Ottawa region and moving into the summer we will need more enthusiastic, hard-working, and certified Lifeguards and Swim instructors to help deliver the junior and adult programs.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about swimming and safety, have experience coaching, and are good team players. They will have the opportunity to grow and continue developing their skills among a dynamic team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensures that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.
- Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies.
- Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary.
- Evaluates conditions for safety and initiates aquatics emergency action plan as required.
- Inspects pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable.
- Supervises and assists in cleaning the pool and related facilities and equipment, assists with chlorine residual water tests and with records and charts of water tests and records of accidents, and adds chemicals to pool water as directed.
- Instructs or assists classes in fundamentals of swimming, as needed.
- Resolves scheduling conflicts to ensure a safe pool environment when competing programs/priorities require use of aquatic facilities.
Lifeguarding Required
- Providing excellent supervisory skills as per NLS standards
- Being rescue ready at all times.
- Responsible for following all NLS procedures regarding minor and major incidents.
- Responsible for properly scanning the pool at regular intervals as per NLS standard.
Swim Instructing – Asset (not all Lifeguards are required to be a Swim Instructor)
- Providing quality lessons in accordance with RSC values and training.
- Starting all lessons on time.
- Evaluate students swimming ability to determine the correct swim level OR Be proactive and make recommendations on skill level to Aquatic supervisor.
Experience/Skills Required
- Minimum of 6 months of related work experience
- Lifeguard must maintain all required certifications: National Lifeguard, Standard First Aid CPR-C AED.
- Any approved swim instructor certification – LSS or Red Cross. Asset – (Not all Lifeguards are required to be a Swim Instructor)
- Communication skills: the instructors and lifeguards need to interact and provide directions to clients, as well as communicate with other staff and parents.
- Decision making skills: there are many instances where the instructor/lifeguard have to make decisions, the ultimate decisions could a life-death situation.
- Ability to judge and evaluate evolving dynamics of individuals participating in aquatic activities to immediately assess their capabilities and threats to their safety.
- Knowledge of on-site protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies
- Knowledge of methods and techniques for providing on-site emergency medical services
- Ability to adjust programs as necessary to ensure the safety of the visitors and other staff.
- Swimming proficiency and comfort in all types of water conditions

Job Summary
RSC’s camp counselors will implement a safe and dynamic summer camp program for children by providing a variety of programming that meets the emphasis of the specific camp. The Camp Counselor will perform a variety of tasks in a summer camp setting including recreation activities, arts and crafts, sports, and games.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans, leads, and implements camp programs for children.
- Provides high-quality educational and recreational opportunities and enjoyable experiences for camp participants.
- Supervises campers and ensures their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being.
- Maintains a schedule for camp participants.
- Facilitates and creates lesson plans for daily activities.
- Organizes and leads various small and large group activities.
- Ensures the cleanliness of the site, housekeeping (cleaning up area after each day).
- Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.
- Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
- Records and tracks camper’s dietary restrictions/allergies and ensures that the meals/snacks are distributed to them.
- Mediates any campers’ disputes.
- Knows, enforces, and follows all safety guidelines associated with the camp program, including knowing the whereabouts of your charges at all times.
- Maintains constant surveillance of the pool/body of water areas.
Experience and Skills:
- Education and experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field.
- Energetic and enthusiastic about working with children.
- Demonstrates maturity and professionalism.
- First Aid & CPR certificate.
- Vulnerable sector certification
- Comfortable to be working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.

Position: Tennis Coach
Start Date: As soon as possible

Weekly hours: 15-25 hours per week
Summary:
Rideau Sports Centre is hiring a Tennis Coach to teach group tennis lessons to juniors and adults. RSC has the largest junior tennis program in the Ottawa region and moving into the spring and summer we will need more enthusiastic, hard-working, and certified coach to help deliver the junior and adult programs.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about tennis, have experience coaching, and are good team players. They will have the opportunity to grow and continue developing their skills among a dynamic team. There will be plenty of room for growth within the facility in the coming months and years.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting students in developing and improving various tennis skills.
- Assessing students’ tennis skills to determine areas in need of improvement.
- Coordinating and conducting individual and group tennis lessons.
- Developing suitable training programs for students based on their age, objectives, and individual skillsets.
- Developing innovative ways to assist beginner or younger students in learning and remembering the rules of the game.
- Identifying the learning styles that work best for each student and adapting all coaching methods accordingly.
- Providing a secure and productive learning environment for students.
Qualifications:
- Minimum two years or seasons teaching tennis lessons or tennis camps .
- Certifications: Tennis Canada Club Professional 1 minimum but Coach 2 or higher preferred.
- Sound knowledge of various coaching techniques.
- CPR and first aid certifications.
- The ability to motivate students.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
- Good tennis level (a plus)
- A passion for tennis.

Position: General Manager

The Bridge Public House is looking for a General Manager who is also a part of the larger RSC management team Rideau Sports Centre (RSC). This person works collaboratively with other RSC managers on common issues and opportunities as a team player thinking of the whole. This person is working manager, out on the floor, supporting their team with a “lead by example” work ethic.
General Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide & maintain a positive, safe & energetic environment where all staff work as a highly functioning team.
- Routine walkthrough of the building including exterior structure to address cleanliness, repair, and maintenance requirements.
- Manage daily operations including cleanliness, organization, revenue opportunities, and staffing.
- Liaise with public health regarding facility inspections and take corrective action as needed, in conjunction with the restaurant owner.
- Review and monitor staffing levels and overall front and back of house schedules to ensure labor forecasts are being met weekly and daily.
- Execute daily briefings, giving staff goals to achieve and providing feedback on their performance.
- Scheduled performance reviews of staff. Creating an action plan to help with their development.
- Collaborates with Chef and their culinary team to ensure food quality and timing standards are consistently adhered to.
- Ensure safety and sanitation are in complete compliance with all local, provincial, and federal regulations.
- Plan and execute menus, promotions, and events with the management team.
- Monitor deliveries, product, and inventory levels ensuring proper pars are being maintained.
Guest Service Responsibilities:

- Analyse monthly financial reports to budget and take corrective action as necessary.
- Manage the seasonality of the business effectively.

- Weekly sales reconciliation, and gratuity distribution
- Understanding menu costing, margins, and percentages for food and beverage.
- Ensure Beverage, Food & Labor percentages are meeting targets.

The Bridge Public House is looking to add to their back of house team with a Cook in a high energy and fast paced environment. This position is a key member of our back of house team who has a “can-do” attitude, thrives in a busy environment and loves food.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- A line cook is responsible for the daily preparation of food items in the pantry, fry and/or stations or other areas of the kitchen.
- Prepares all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
- Follows recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant.
- Restocks all items as needed throughout shift.
- Has understanding and knowledge to properly use and maintain all equipment in station.
- Assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.
- Ensure quality and safety of food by performing standard and any additional sanitary measures including sweeping of the floors, cleaning of surfaces, as well as proper covering and storage of food items according to standards and procedures.
- Work at an efficient and consistent pace.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- Completion of secondary school is required.
- Completion of a three-year apprenticeship program for cooks or completion of college or other program in cooking required.
- Minimum 1 year of cooking experience required.
