Round Robin Sundays 2:30-4:0pm: Hit With a Junior Pro!

We’re adding a FUN + SKILL element to our weekly Sunday Round Robins 2:30-4:00pm. Each week a different Junior Pro will join this Round Robin. Featured this week Sunday, July 21 is RSC’s Andrew Clarke. Sunday’s Round Robin 2:30-4:00pm is for Levels 3.0 to 4.0.

Andrew is a student at the University of Ottawa and a proud member of the tennis team. He has been coaching for a few years and loves helping people reach their goals on the court. Andrew is also the lead tennis counsellor for summer camp at RSC. He has a clear passion for the game and is comfortable working with many different ages and skill levels.

Call RSC Front Desk to Register 613.749.6126, as online registration closed 4 days in advance.

Tennis Tags on Net & Cancellations: Important Reminders

Two important reminders for all Clay Tennis Court Players:

1) PLEASE display your Tennis Pass Holder or Walk-On Tennis Tags on the tennis net facing the Clubhouse – to show that your court is PAID. This will make it so much easier to see who is on the court and whether their fees are paid, without a staff member interrupting your game for confirmation.

If you are a Walk On, it is imperative to check in at the Front Desk prior to play in order to pick up your day Walk On Pass (orange), so that you can display it on the court.  As long as there are the same number of tennis tags on the net as there are players, then your game will not be disturbed by an RSC Staff Member.

2) PLEASE cancel your clay tennis court if your plans have changed. This will free-up the court for a fellow Pass Holder or Walk-On. To cancel your court, call the RSC Front desk at 613.749.6126.

Wednesday July 24th 6:30-9:00pm: Mike Murphy / Fake McCoys

Based in Ottawa Ontario The Fake McCoys bring a relaxed, fun and personal style of musical entertainment.

We are an established fully equipped light rock band trio. We play at many of the pubs in and around Ottawa and bring a mix of popular top 40 songs from 50’s to present with a few surprises for good measure. We pride ourselves on really interacting with our audience and creating a memorable and fun evening for everyone. Another thing that makes us different from most bands is our 3 part harmonies and LOW volume which suits us best for pubs where people can still enjoy conversation while listening to music. We use a smaller stage as our drummer(percussionist) does not use a drumkit. A small wood box called a cajon is all he needs.

Mike Murphy  – Vocals, Guitar, Mandolin, Harmonica

Born in Verdun Que several years ago. Relocating to Ottawa in 1981. Mike started dabbling with guitar at age 13 but only ever played as a hobby. It wasn’t until a serious injury that left him unable to walk for a number of months that he started to play more. It was also when he started to sing. In 2006 Mike formed a few basement bands, out of that a successful duo called Mike n’ Marty was born. When Marty Vallieres was unable to continue Mike added a few more guys to create The Fake McCoys. Music humbles me and I am honored every time I get to play for someone

Rob Lauzon  – Vocals, Cajon, Percussion

Rob is a happy boy. Born in a hospital somewhere, I packed up and moved to Ottawa at 2 years old and grew up here. Played drums in a rock band through my teens and twenties, then got kidknapped, tied up, taken away, and held for ransom. Broke free a couple of years ago and got right back at rockin’. Thoroughly enjoying my role of “Percussion Specialist” with The Fake McCoys. Ok…I made that up…I don’t specialize in anything…I am just the cajon player…I slappa da box

Sheldon DeCoste  – Vocals, Bass Guitar

The band’s token Maritimer, Sheldon dabbled with the bass a bit in high school, mainly because some family and friends had a band and “someone“ had to play bass. After deciding not to attend Berklee College of Music, he instead studied Business and I.T. in Nova Scotia and then relocated to Ottawa, where he started a career/family. Only in 2007 did he get the bug to pick up the bass again. This time around, he decided to learn to play it properly. Although we’re still waiting for that to happen, Sheldon does provide the Fake McCoys’ low end, both musically and vocally.
